Itinerary

I was reminiscing about a recent catch-up earlier this year when my friend and I were swapping stories of our adventures. I had just returned from my 8 week solo trip through Australia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, and he was gearing up for his four month journey across the USA. As we continued chatting, it dawned on us that we’ve been touring together for 20 years now…time really flies!

Remembering all those trips across Europe, Scandinavia, and even California, it seemed only fitting that we plan something special to celebrate this milestone. And so, the idea for the "Anniversary Tour" was born.

My 17 day tour starts in my home village of St Michaels on Wyre, Lancashire, where I head south to Dover for an overnight stay.

The following morning we catch the ferry from Dover and dock in calais mid afternoon. Our destination for the night is picturesque city of Amiens.

Our journey continues the following day to Paliseul in Belgium, nestled in the heart of the Ardennes. Here, we enjoy the serene natural landscapes and quaint charm of the region.

The next leg takes us to Natzwiller in France, where we pass the poignant Struthof Concentration Camp Memorial, an important historical site. From there, we journey to Konstanz in Germany, situated on the shores of the magnificent Lake Constance, and enjoy the scenic beauty and cultural richness of the town.

Next, we ride through breathtaking alpine scenery to reach Gries am Brenner in Austria, where we can soak in the tranquil ambiance of this mountain village and meet up with old friends.

We continue our adventure to Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy, a stunning resort town in the Dolomites, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and outdoor activities. From the Italian Alps, we head to Salzburg, Austria, to explore the birthplace of Mozart and the historic Salzburg Cathedral.

Our journey then takes us to Munich, Germany’s vibrant city known for its rich history and lively cultural scene. We spend an afternoon exploring iconic sites like the BMW Museum and the Munich nightlife.

The following day, we ride to the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, with its charming old town and unique Christmas Museum. From there we travel to Erfurt to visit the impressive Erfurt Cathedral and the historic Krämerbrücke.

The following day we continue our journey to Hertzburg, immersing ourselves in local attractions and the surrounding area's beauty. Our next destination is Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet. Visit the Deutsches Eck and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress for a dose of history and stunning views. From Koblenz, we ride to Corbion Sur Semois in Belgium, where we can relax amidst the natural beauty of the Semois Valley.

On the penultimate day, we travel to Ypres, Belgium, to visit the Menin Gate and the In Flanders Fields Museum, commemorating the events of World War I.

Finally, return to Calais for the ferry back to Dover and drive to Derbyshire for a few days rest, concluding my incredible 17-day tour.
